1993 American drama film with a script by Milcha Sánchez-Scott, it is an adaptation of her play of the same name. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 1993, before being released in the United States in 1995.
 
Gallo Morales (Edward James Olmos) returns home after being imprisoned for seven years for murdering a man over a cockfight. His family welcomes him back with mixed feelings. His return is eagerly awaited by his wife, Juana (Sonia Braga),  his daughter Angela (Lassez) is eager to have him back while his son Héctor (Nucci) feels differently.  
 
Héctor wants to leave the farm behind and earn money in order to move his family away. However, Gallo has returned from jail determined to continue the business and raise a new flock of roosters. Héctor and Gallo soon clash over their different goals.
 
He also lives in the Chata house (María Conchita Alonso) with his always extraordinary performance but in my opinion with a somewhat ungrateful role; She plays the role of Gallo's sister, whose outspoken sensuality turns her nephew on fire.
